Job SummaryPerforms work in all skill areas required to install and maintain electrical machinery, instruments and controls in oriented strand board plant.
Location: Huber - Spring City, TN
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
1. Performs highly skilled electrical maintenance tasks including installation, maintenance and repair of electrical machinery, instruments and controls throughout the plant. Exercises proficiency in the following skill areas:
a. Installation of electrical equipment, motors, starters, conduit, wire, etc.
b. Repairs and operates electrical tools and equipment, including power tools, test equipment, etc.
c. Troubleshooting of AC (Alternating Current), DC (Direct Current) and variable frequency instruments and control systems.
d. Performing PM (Preventive Maintenance) on DC motors and other electro/mechanical components (brakes, clutches, solenoids, etc.
e. Recalibrating instruments, sensors, chart records, etc.
f. Installation and programming of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and its use in troubleshooting.
g. Documentation of electrical systems) both hardware and software).
h. Maintenance of files on motor equipment and PM including drawings and schematics for permanent records.
i. Maintenance and troubleshooting of high voltage equipment including transformers, switchgear and substations.
j. Exhibit knowledge of shop filing system.
k. Manufacturing of electrical control systems including panel layout, wiring, installation, etc.
l. Assisting with mechanical maintenance activities.
2. Tests repaired or newly installed equipment, cleans work site and reinstalls safety devices.
3. Maintains acceptable levels of housekeeping in electric shop areas.
4. Maintains daily records of hours worked in various cost centers.
5. Follows checkout procedures when removing items from storeroom
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Preferred Competencies
High School Education or GED required.
Works in all inside and outside areas of the plant and is often exposed to heat, cold, inclement weather, grease, oil and dirty working conditions. Work is performed while walking and standing or climbing a considerable portion of the time, often in awkward or strained positions. Routinely uses meters, testing devices and standard hand tools. Occasionally operates electrode welder, acetylene torch, portable power tools, shop equipment, forklift and other mobile equipment. Must successfully pass the Company’s forklift, mobile crane and overhead crane operator’s test. Knows and observes applicable Company policies and safe practices. Must be able to successfully pass a pulmonary function test at hire or transfer and two follow up tests at 2 weeks and 2 months. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
*Monitor air and water discharges from site to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and monitor process operations for evidence of excessive use of fuel, water, and other natural resources.
* *Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and corporate environmental and safety regulations, and permit issues (air, water, etc.). Ensure that proper documentation is completed for any safety or environmental required monitoring in your area of responsibility. Report inconsistencies as appropriate.
*Attend all federal, state and company mandated training, read and comply with Job Risk Analysis (JRA) (formally known as JHA - Job Hazard Analysis or JSA - Job Safety Analysis) information that applies to areas in which you work, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while on the job, and report /or correct any unsafe condition that you may observe. Report all injuries to your supervisor immediately.
*Adhere to all Safety & Environmental Training.
Be aware of and know how to access the JM Huber EHS Policy, the Minimum Mandatory Standards and Requirements (MMSR’s) and HEW Environmental, Health, and Safety Management System (EHSMS) procedures. Comply with MMSRs and HEW EHSMS procedures and report all non-conformances to your supervisor or manager.
*Incorporate environmental, health and safety requirements into every day decision making.
Assist as required in the development and administration of environmental, safety and health policies and programs. Lead efforts to increase continuous safety and health environmental conscientiousness, identify potential hazards, investigate safety and/or environmental incidents and initiate necessary changes identified through “near hit” incident investigations. Thoroughly investigate any work-related injuries and record it appropriately. Plan, develop and lead safety and environmental awareness meetings. Ensure that the personnel, activities, equipment, and areas under your management are in compliance with applicable federal, state, local and corporate regulations and policies.
Refer to J.M. Huber Corporate EH&S Policy in your employee hand book (beginning on page 61) for further details regarding policy, implementation, responsibility and authority. Questions regarding EH&S compliance should be directed to your manager, team leader, environmental or safety manager.
